What is Alpha for Catholics?

Alpha is about sharing the Good News in Jesus Christ. It is a program of evangelization. Over the course of ten weeks, we provide a practical introduction to the Christian faith, offering an opportunity to explore the meaning of Christian life in a relaxed and friendly setting. Alpha provides an opportunity for people to encounter the love of God in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. Alpha is biblically based and focuses on the Kerygma, the essential Good News of Jesus Christ, as preached by the early Church.

Each gathering begins with a meal, a time of relaxation and fun in a friendly atmosphere, followed by Alpha Sessions looking at different aspects of the Christian Faith. Participants break into small groups where everyone is welcome to share thoughts and ask question, emphasizing exploration and discovery in a non-judgmental and relaxed setting.

Most people take part in Alpha because someone has personally invited them. Invite family or friends who qualify to try the Alpha course. You can register by phone or email at the parish website, and your prayers for the course participants and for our Alpha Ministry team are welcomed.
