17th Sunday of Ordinary Time (Note & Bulletin)

A Church which “goes forth” is a Church whose doors are open. Going out to others in order to reach the fringes of humanity does not mean rushing out aimlessly into the world. Often it is better simply to slow down, to put aside our eagerness in order to see and listen to others, to stop rushing from one thing to another and to remain with someone who has faltered along the way.

Prayer and Life Workshops

Once again, ‘Prayer and Life Workshops’ will be offered in our parish. This 15 week program runs Wednesday evenings from August 13 thru November 19 at 7pm. Sessions will include methods such as prayerful reading, integral reconciliation, and contemplative prayer.

This weekend at all of our Sunday Masses, Brother Paul Desmarais S.J., Director of Kasisi Agriculture Training Center (KATC), will be visiting and informing us about his groundbreaking work with poor farmers in Zambia. Engaged Encounters: Sacrament of Marriage

Your prayers are requested for members of our Parish who are preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage. These engaged couples are meeting next weekend here in our church halls for the Weekend of Engaged Discovery. May this time be grace-filled for all those preparing for marriage and for the team couples helping to facilitate the weekend.

Pope Francis has asked an important question: If we are a people of Easter and, are therefore, a people of joy, why is it that we often look as if we’ve come from a funeral?  I think if one were to ask a person their impression of being a Catholic Christian, the person would likely speak of the strictness of practicing the faith.
